Michael has been married for over a decade and has two young children. While President of the Korean-American Society of Greater Ann Arbor, he established the General Motors Corporation scholarship program for three Korean-American students attending the University of Michigan. This year General Motors will award three students with $2,000 scholarships. Michael is currently working with State Representative Young Hopgood (D-Taylor, Chair of House Transportation Committee) and Dr. Sook Wilkinson (Chairperson for Jennifer Granholm’s Advisory Council on Asian Pacific American Affairs) to increase voter registration amongst Asian-Americans. Their efforts are going to strongly increase the voter base for the Democratic Party in Michigan.
Michael wants to continue his community involvement and give back to his local community by being part of the Pittsfield Promise team. He would like to be part of a community-based effort to diversify and strengthen the economic and environmental base in Pittsfield Township.
